Over 16,528,207 people are on fubar.
What are you waiting for?

I had a few experiences over the weekend that made me think hard about fubar and its place in my life.
Well, really one long set of them. But the conclusion that came to me early yesterday morning is that life is uncertain. Fubar, as it imitates life, is also very uncertain.
That's the real gift of fubar, if you want to look really deeply: changes in the world can affect our health, our homes, our families, our jobs; changes in fubar are somewhat smaller in scale. Rating speed slows down, point for activities changes, a new feature appears out of the primordial ooze, something stops working ... it's an inconvenience, sure, but not life-altering. Practice embracing change at fubar. Develop the skill and take it with you.
We always have full control over our attitudes, which control how we experience life and give us power.
Spending your time feeling powerless is such a waste, because its only your attitude that makes you that way. Step up, welcome change as a fact of life, and find solutions to make the change work for you. Fubar gives us all a pretty safe place to practice behaviors we want to own.
Be the change you want to see.
And remember that "thought is action in rehearsal".

... but don't, of course, because it's not worth offending people.
I'd really rather not rate photographs of people sticking their tongues out, smoking cigarettes, or flipping the bird. I'll do it, if that's all that's available, but I'd rather not.
I'll always rate salutes.
And I'll always rate back.
I rate profiles when there's something original in the About Me.
When I rate, as a matter of convention, I'll rate a 10. I've come to understand that it's not really about evaluation, it's just a "hi".
Now that I've been assured that points are all the same whether I get a 2 or a 10, too, I've let go of my being offended when I receive a low rating. *shrug* Everyone KNOWS that we have different styles and tastes and if it's that important to someone to have his or her say, well, nbd.
Btw, I'm a point ho. I just want the points so I can level-up. My only goal at fubar is to get enough points so I can legitimately help people in support. With one STUNNING exception, I've found the support lounge people to be among the best at fubar. They're sincere, helpful to everyone and unfailingly polite. Except for that one exception, who will remain nameless. (Not that I hold grudges or anything.)
But I'd be really grateful to anyone who can explain why there are so many "people in car" photos as well as the intention of tongues and fingers. There's a movement I clearly am missing. TIA

More than a few days

AH AH! *NOW* I see recent blogs!!
Well, that satisfies my little fubar gripe for the day. Which is not to say that I believe the best introduction is to start with a complaint. Not at all.
It's just that I had a discussion last night about blogs and their place in the fubar experience. It seemed to me that not being able to view new entries under the Latest drop-down menu was an oversight. So, I'm just tickled pink to see how I can view other recent blog/post/entries!
I'm not really sure how to make the best use of fubar, to tell you all the truth. I enjoy gawking at random photos (I'm currently crushing on a darling set of penguins), collecting images of helicopters (no, I don't fly 'em, but the affinity to hummingbirds, which I also don't fly, is warming.) and noticing how experiences in this venue shape my perspectives.
I typically journal at another "social networking site" that has really funky interpretations of html tags, and have recently spent time developing a Confluence-based wiki, so I'm not sure how this'll work. I know that Web 2.0 has little respect for the rulez that made life so safe in the early days of the interweb.
In the interest of keeping these entries short and slightly manageable, I'm closing for the time being. My apologies for the geekiness here ... once I settle on a format I find attractive (need to get rid of that ugly red border!) I'll settle into the real task of setting up meaningful exchanges.
I'll leave you with my favorite introductory blog about how to get comfortable and fubar and find your way around: Gunzle's Intro.
