Most everything else I will say has been covered by stud in the videos, but maybe it will help some for me to explain it here.
A cherry bomb lasts for 1 hour and you must wait 30 seconds between bombings. 30 seconds happens 120 times in an hour. It will take you a minimum of 3 to 6 seconds to activate a cherry bomb, load the page for the first photo album and bomb it. Because of that time that is lost on the first album, 119 albums is the maximum possible. If it takes 5 seconds to bomb the first album, that means there is only a 25 second room-for-error for all of the remaining albums. If you average being a quarter of a second late on the remaining 118 albums you will run out of time before meeting the inferno requirement. It is not like you can make up lost time by doing another album early because it will not let you bomb until at least 30 seconds has past since the previous bombing.
A very important point is this: you want to go to photo albums that are “burning.”
a photo album is “burning” when it has been bombed in the last 24 hours.
If you look at peoples photo page you will see a column of their albums on the left side of the page. For most of the “hottest members” you will see that there are flames at the top of some of their albums and not others. The albums with the flames on top are “burning” because they have been bombed in the last 24 hours.
The reason you want to go to albums that are burning is this: when a cherry bomb is active and you go to someone's photo album you will receive one of three messages (I may be paraphrasing):
ready to bomb in XX seconds - this message appears when an album is not burning and 30 seconds have NOT elapsed since the previous bombing.
bomb this album – this message appears when an album is not burning and the 30 seconds HAS elapsed since the previous bombing.
recently bombed by [name and pic] ready to bomb – this message appears when the album is burning regardless of whether the 30 seconds have elapsed or not.
The reason you do NOT want to bomb an album with the first message is this: you must wait until the proper time has elapsed (30 seconds after the previous bomb) and then you must reload the page to get the second message (bomb this album) and then bomb it. The time that elapses between the end of the 30 second interval following the previous bombing and the time it takes to reload the page is 3 to 6 seconds. If that happens 5 or 6 times you will not have time to bomb 119 albums.
The reason you DO want to bomb albums with the third message is this: you only need to wait until the 30 seconds has elapsed and bomb the album. You do NOT need to refresh the page at the end of the 30 second interval like you would with the first message.
So how do make sure you are going to burning albums? You cannot be absolutely certain, but the probability of finding burning albums is much greater when you work the “hottest members for this week” list. That list is under the “Hottest” tab at the top of the page next to “Home” and “My.” Whether you select “dudes” or “chicks” you will get the same page with “dudes” on the left and “chicks” on the right. It makes the most sense to bomb both the dudes and the chicks because the top 60 dudes AND chicks receive more bombs than the top 120 of either either dudes or chicks. It also means changing fewer pages of this listing.
You want to go methodically through this list. You will click on the pic of the member which will take you to their profile. Then you will click on their main profile pic which takes you to the default album of their photos. When 30 seconds has elapsed you bomb it. Then you click the back arrow to go back to their profile, and then click again to go back to the hottest page, then you click on the next members pic and repeat.
There are a couple of snags you might encounter. When you get to someone's photo album you might get message #1 (ready to bomb in XX seconds.) if you see this message look at the other album folders on the left side of the page. If you see another album that is burning just click on that folder and you will get the desired message #3 (recently bombed by_______ ready to bomb). Just wait until the 30 seconds has elapsed and bomb it.
If you get to someone's photo album and get message #1 and there are no other folders burning, you want to just skip this person. Use the back arrows to return to the Hottest list and go to the next person.
You may go to someones photo page and receive a message telling you that you cannot bomb this album because there are no photos in it. This happens when they have moved all of their photos from the default album to other albums. Again just look down the left side of the page, find a burning album and click on it. If you don't see a burning album, skip them and go to the next member.
PREPARING FOR THE INFERNO
Get a stopwatch. Radio shack has one for about 12 bucks. You will be needing to use one hand for the keyboard and one hand for the stopwatch. Get comfortable with using the stopwatch with your “non-keyboard” hand. Your stopwatch will probably require using three different buttons: start; stop; and reset. Get comfortable with doing that sequence. It is going to be tricky, but you need to find a rhythm to hit the stop and the reset around 27 seconds because you want to hit the start at the same instant that you bomb the album (when it would have reached 30 seconds.)
you also want to get comfortable with how to recover if you make a mistake. Let's say you hit the stop, then the reset, then you click “bomb this album” and start the stopwatch but you get a message saying “this album ready to bomb in 1 second” because you were just a bit to quick. You need to refresh the page while you stop and reset the watch and refresh the page. Then bomb and start (the watch) at the same instant.
JUST BEFORE STARTING optimize your computer's performance. Go to fubar settings and turn off skins, chat, and pokes. These things may slow your performance and distract you.
Shut down every program that is running on your computer, then restart it. This will allow your computer to restart with your cache memory all cleared, improving performance. Start up only the browser you will be using for the inferno.
Open one window to fubar. Click on the Hottest tab, and then click on the first dude which you will be bombing so that you are on his profile page.
Now look at the little “power-up” window at the bottom left corner of your fubar page. Is there a cherry bomb there? If so that is awesome, you will be activating the bomb from there. If you have a cherry bomb but it is not appearing there, you will need to open a second window to fubar, go to “MY/Bling” and find the cherrybomb you will be using. Situate your window pages so that you can see the cherry bomb and also on the other window you want to be able to see the main pic on the profile of the first person you will be bombing.
Visualize in your head the steps you will be taking so that it will be automatic when you start. You are going to hover the cursor/mouse over the bomb, get the little pop-up menu, click activate, and another option will appear to confirm the activation. Click it and then immediately click the main profile pic of the first dude and you are on your way.
Don't wanna deal with a stopwatch? I know someone who did the inferno using an analogue clock with a sweeping second hand. Another option is to find someone who will keep time for you with a stopwatch or analogue clock.
The most important thing I have not mentioned is to stay calm and focused. Doing the inferno is very stressful and that stress works against you. Don't forget to exhale. This will help to relax you. Don't allow your mind to wander. Exercise self discipline to remain focused while you are looking at someones page waiting for the 30 second countdown. Don't get lost in looking at the pics in front of you, just stay focused. Turn off your telephone, television, anything else that might distract you. Be mindful of the tension in your body, allow your shoulders to drop down and relax and exhale fully. The inferno has been done by many people and you can do it too. Good luck!
