Cherokee Bill
The hat he wore
resembled that of Indiana Jones
So it gave them pause
and she dubbed him
Missouri Bill
But the sound of the name
when spoken
reminded him of misery
and that the "trail of tears"
of the Cherokee
The trail passed through Missouri
where he had paused a year ago
and though a white man
his family lore
tied him to the tribe
It was as if
all had come full circle
and so upon this day
"Cherokee Bill"
was born
