Ever get the feeling that television is a dying pastime? Ever get the inkling that internet viewing is becoming more enjoyable? Do you ponder whether television will be around for much longer?
God I hope not!
With the ever evolving internet and the communities within, and the expanding technology and software production to provide accurate on time, precise, crisp clean streaming videos, What the hell do you need a television for.
With the fact Cable and Dish TV are at war over pricing and customer support it’s ridiculous how the customers have to deal with price fluctuations and the constant dehumanizing aspect of customer service. And the increasing voice activated prompt Tele-systems guiding you through loop holes of hubbub yes and no’s to finally get a human an hour later saying, sorry wrong department. (Got to love the industry!)
A little hint, Cable TV IS DISH TV only hardwired to you through a (Hub) central server point, or provider (Time Warner, Charter, Road Runner, etc). GET DISH! Or better yet, get Internet only and get the best and watch television via network sites, use skype or other related internet services, hell BUY The Magic Jack!
With the fact that analog signals have been killed off entirely, and everything is digital now, what is the point of owning a television. When all you really need is a large screen monitor, to handle mega pixel demands. (Gaming, Multiple screens, Movies, Photos)
I threw out my television a while ago. And the one I do have was left behind from the previous owner and it is sitting the top shelf in my closet.
Everything I watch, and everything I do is online now. I access my shows, movies, music, photos, games, and console games through a monitor. (Yes I use one of the old large bulky CRT monitors, but as the old saying goes, if it isn’t broken don’t fix it)
So it brings me to the basic of all questions. Why do I waste my time on watching weekly shows that only last an hour? Well the truth of the matter is… “I Don’t!”
The networks and their infinite wisdom tend to cancel and restart, move or sell shows in and out like chess pieces. (Remember when we were kids and thundercats were a big thing, the network (nameless to be) bought it from Japanese, because it was popular with American children, they only bought 3 seasons of it and canceled it. Why, because the japs wanted to much for each episode)
They move the shows around cancel and start up new ones, based on the ebb and flow of dollar signs.
These jack wads would take wholesome shows like Pushing Daisies, October Road, Smallville, Generation Kill, Jericho, The Middleman, and many others that have felt the burn from the insistent greed of the cooperate executives just trying to stretch their ass end pockets more for the good ole greenback.
That is why I have chose to involve my time into community actions, internet communities, gaming such as MMORPG’s and FPS which actually do end up creating new networks of friends and contacts.
Television isn’t going to be around much longer, At least another 15-20 years before it evolves and corporate television becomes something different.
There is so much that companies can get away with before the public turns and eats them alive. STOP FUCKING AROUND NBC, CBS, ABC, TNT, USA, HBO, SHOW, and WB, (and the rest of you), it will come back and bite you in the ass someday. If you’re going to put a show on, do your research on the show before you air it, and stop waisting the yearning fans time with dead end shows.
I am for one sick and tired of having my cock in hand and a dumb ass look on my face “Is that it?” “what the hell happened?”. (October Road left me going what the hell, I finally found a show that I can associate with, people my own age, dealing with the same issue I do all the time, and a show that I was really into and POOF ABC cancels it, and doesn’t say why) A S S H O L E S!
If any of you corporate asswigs have half a brain you would at least face the public and tell them WHY you canceled it. MAKE A WEBSITE or an ADDITION to the ones you already have up with the news to why they are canceled. If it is canceled because money wasn’t there the public can understand, but if it is because you found something better and you wanted to go with a more profitable show just for the sake of money.
I have to say as 1/1000000000, I can stand up assured that I speak for a lot of us. GO FUCK YOURSELVES!
