I've always been an admirer of this pioneer of stage and film. Stories of sad irony always move me and Charlie's life story although amazing and scandalous, his personal relationships were often tragic. An alcoholic father, a mother who spent years in an asylum, left Charlie and his brother living in a life of poverty in harsh Victorian England. This left an indelible mark on his soul and left him vunerable in relationships with women. It's sadly ironic that a man who was by his own admission "a clown" who brought so much joy and laughter to a world desperate for those things should spend much of his life in and out of failed relationships until he met "Oona". Even then he still had to contend with former president "J. Edgar Hoover" who as acting head of the FBI for decades waged a personal war on Charlie to try and destroy his career. After decades of not filing for citizenship Hoover successfully had Chaplin exiled from the USA. Charlie after years in exile put his personal pain aside and returned to the USA to accept a lifetime achievement award for his incalculable contributions to movies. He passed peacefully from this world surrounded by Oona, his children and great grandchildren in "Manoir" his home in Switzerland. There was an incident that happened early in his career that is not well known but is nevertheless documented by the "Boston University Department Of Research Into Paranormal Activity". It involved an incident that happened early in the twentieth century when Charlie's career along with Mary Picford's were on fire. Both as actor and actress competed to be the highest paid in the business. At one point Charlie was bringing in a staggering one million dollars a year back in the twenties. His popularity was at an all time high when newspaper reports started coming in of hotels claiming that Charlie had been paged in them all in American cities ranging from Canada to Mexico, from the east coast to the west coast. Here's the rub. He was present in none of them! The theory that has been advanced suggested that his popularity had so ingrained itself in the American subconciousness that in caused this event to spontaneously manifest. As a species with only a hint of our potential this is a glimpse into our future of what we might achieve through collective manifestation of thoughts.- MIKADEMUS
