One day I was walking
out in the park
it was growing late
and getting dark.
I started for home
with my head cast down
I crashed into you
and fell to the ground.
You helped me up
and I looked at you
you were so gorgeous
I felt like a fool.
You looked like the devil
with you darkly good looks
you wore that silly hat
covered with fish hooks.
I apologized to you
and started to leave
but you took my hand
and said "your name please."
So we exchanged names
in the dimming twilight
and you asked for a date
under the street light.
