CARTER COUNTY MISSOURI!!

CARTER COUNTY MISSOURI The North Fork of the White River never spawned a chain of lakes, or became a national park, or got called "wild and scenic." It isn't the biggest, or the prettiest, or the longest. But for a great many Ozarkers who live along its banks or float its waters or seek its deep trout pools, it's the best. Many of our rivers are crystal clear and spring-fed which makes for excellent fishing opportunities. The North Fork River is ranked by TROUT UNLIMITED as one of the top 100 trout fishing streams in the nation. It has the largest wild rainbow trout population in the state and is supplemented by annual stockings of brown trout. This combination of trout and trout regulations promises to provide a diversity of angling opportunities. Namesake of an unknown pioneer, the 44.6 mile long Jacks Fork River is the Ozark National Scenic Riverways at its best, and the Ozarks' premier floating experience. Its deep valley is a virtual canyon for the first 25 miles, and in springtime provides beautiful Class 2 floating. Due to lack of access, it is the area's most primitive river. Downstream, from Alley Spring to Two Rivers it is a beautiful Class 1 river. Throughout its span, the fishing is excellent. The Eleven Point National Scenic River, mile for mile, features more Ozarks history, scenic beauty and spectacular fishing opportunities than any river in America - some who have floated it say it's the best in the world. From trophy trout, smallmouth bass to stopovers at Turner's Mill and Greer Spring, it's river touring at its best. The current River's wild natural beauty is so breathtaking that it was the first river in America to be named a National Scenic River. Now a part of the Ozark National Scenic Riverways, the Current is the most spring-fed of Missouri's rivers and can be floated year-round. Once a mighty highway for Ozarks settlement and transportation of timber to market in the 1800s, it now offers some of America's most spectacular floating, fishing and photo opportunities.
