Lols metaphors.
We're trying to get this (see upper right white thing on the shoulder?)
tooooooo
Schawaaaaaah~
Neither of those pictures are mine >>
uh
anyway
I decided to bareback this thing since I got a cutting surface and some modeling clay.
and... well seriously, I learn by exploding.
I took the skeleton frame, drilled a pair of holes and took a bent piece of sprue (the plastic sheets these parts originally come on) and created a hook, I then fit the hook through and made a shield handle by glueing the bent sprue in place.
Now I had... a light, flimsy ass piece of crap shield
But I had a shield.
So I then proceded to schloop on some no set super plastic modeling clay to get some of the ... shape down
see, the bottom plate has .. well... nothing in it, and if there WAS a top plate, it'd have substance, some folks just
slap down a thin layer of plastic plate and leave it hollow...
I filled the empty space (which was > than the cover) and I decided on something more plastic and more forgiving than epoxy.
Surprisingly, crazy glue bonds to it too.
Go figure.
Anyway, the form was filled, and I laid down a couple plates along the edges to cover the GOO
and I've got about... 85% of a shield drying on my table.
Now... the glue did burn through in a few spots, so I cut out a square and replaced, and a few spots warped and knocked the plates off (super plastic modeling clay is no)
I think I've got... two plates left
the back (no big deal) and the bend ... big deal, I have to blend this seam with two adjoining pieces.
I'm hoping a good clean cut, and some sanding before paint will cover it.
I am definitely using too thin of plastic sheet for this type of modification.
Someone advised to fill all hollow forms.
The next concern is...this thing has gained a lot of weight.
I'm not entirely sure the Zaku I can hold the shield any more.
... not without a guidewire or twelve...
which I now have a spool of .080 silver wire. :/
I didn't come to fuck about.
Also, I don't know how I'm going to use them, but I've got 5 half tubes 1 mm diameter, about 1 mm length each.
I was thinkin just... doodads, but I could easilly make em as knuckle mods or some kind of ... implied machine gun.
If I were to put em down with a half-drum I could imply that the shield has a multi barrel machine gun on it.
But that would reduce its effectiveness as a shield.
Loving the cutting surface though.
and the nearly completed experimental shield mod.
I'd take pics... but my phone is FUCKED since the wreck.
