Good Morning on this 16th day of May. May Day May Day…Just kidding wanted to see if it would work. Well I see there is a story in the Canadian News about Boys 11 and 14 accused of holding up Kansas store with squirt gun. Hmmm a squirt gun…Now as much as I would like to say slap their little hands and swat their butt it sort of irks me that boys this age would have dreamed up a plot of this nature. Here is the story: LEAVENWORTH, Kan. (AP) - Two Kansas boys are accused of wielding a concealed weapon - a squirt gun wrapped in black electrical tape - to steal cash from a discount store. The purple plastic toy was recovered from the downtown Dollar General store by officers who caught the suspects, ages 11 and 14, within minutes of the holdup, police said Tuesday. "It's very troubling that a kid that is 11 years old can formulate the thought in their mind to do something like this," police Maj. Pat Kitchens said. No one was injured in the holdup Monday afternoon. Kitchens said the boys are suspected of walking into the store and displaying the weapon while demanding cash. The clerk reported struggling with the older boy, while the younger one reached into a cash register and grabbed money, Kitchens said. The boys, who are not related, were being held in a juvenile detention centre. Police expect they will be charged with robbery, Kitchens said. Police said the law makes no concession for the fact the gun was designed to hold water rather than bullets. "The crime is dictated by the behavior of the suspects in this instance," Kitchens said. © The Canadian Press 2007 Well I for one think stories of this nature turn out to be fertilizer for more of the same. Here is my point and correct me if I am wrong. Back in the sixty’s seventy’s streaker’s were prevalent. Then it turned out to be a ploy to get noticed and on TV by streaking at sporting events…The TV broadcasters thinking of not broadcasting this event would take that camera off air or black it out so to speak by switching to another coverage camera…which in turn did not show the streaker at all…hence forth detouring future streakers. It may have worked…I mean not so much drop trou is happening anymore. (losing one’s trousers for those who do not get the Martyism’s) So perhaps the news media could also use this feature and not spend so much time on worthless events that basically fuel the fire or incite more of the same if not more blatant acts. Here is what I am saying so those of you who might think I think the boys acts were not worth the time of day. Not so. I think they should be punished and punished to the point scared stiff. Throw them in Maximum security until they see the course of their future is not paved in take if I want to take. But lined in death and uncertainty. But, doing so do not report the fact that this happened. I feel extremely confident in copy cat events spur more drastic copy cat events…The boys were lucky they did not encounter a plain clothes officer and loose much more then juvenile detention. It’s the case of Monkey see Monkey do. Oh yes it is, nothing more. Those boys did not start out as criminals but have grown into them…others will grow into this dark realm as well when they get news of it. You can’t tell me that someone if not many will look at that and say, I could have done that better, and will plan something and then it doesn’t end mildly but very sadly… Oh well, perhaps I am wrong, perhaps it is boys will be boys…I don’t think so this time, nor next time either. I know some are thinking…Marty we have to have news… we need to know these things are happening…come on, honestly do we need to know? I say no we don’t and here is why. I say hearing this (about the boys) will spark anger and in anger sparks uneasy, anger and uneasy means loss of hope…Hope is all we have…Because I believe we all hope this world will straighten out one day and most of us wish that to be true…I surely do.
So today try and have a great day… Boys will be boys…let’s not let them be stupid while trying to become gangster,… A term kids can relate to….
