I have been doing some thinking as I browse through the L.C. about the different types of people that get on here. I have been a part of L.C.for quite sometime, MySpace before that, and before all these online communities I was a chat room junkie too. So, basically it is about 10-12 years of experience talking here. Through all of this I have broken down the people who belong to these groups into one of five categories...and yes, I definitely belong to one of them. The categories and explanation follow:
1. Attention Cravers: Also known as attention whores, but I am not a fan of the whore expression. I mean a whore suggests that the person is giving something in return for what they are given...this is not the case with this group. Put simply these people put pics up until they are inundated (sp?) with comments and sexually explicit suggestions. They thrive on this attention! Many "experts" would suggest they are suffering from low self-esteem. I would disagree with this...they just have a need to inflate their egos...and this is quite normal. Hell...in my estimation they have just found a way to do this without having to pay someone to do it! LOL Lastly, on this group, most of the members are women...and between the ages of 16 and 30. However, there are some men in this group(usually guys who feel the need to show off some penis or the perverbial 6-pack...yes I do have some jealousy and I admit it). Anyone outside of this age group can not belong to this group by the way...they are a part of the next group.
2. Glory days seekers: These are the "attention cravers" who do not fit into the age category above. Put simply, these are the 30+ year olds who are on here to try and rekindle the past that they miss so much. They probably were chat room junkies in the past and the first to participate in cyber sex. Once again, they are searching for a way to grab hold of the past and enjoy those times again. Do they succeed? SOmetimes. But most of the time they stick around for a couple of months and then are gone again...sucked in by "real life" again. However, they usually return every once in a while to give it a go again. They are border line the next group.
3. Real Life avoiders: These are the people..no age group defined here, who join here to be a different person than they are in "real life". This is the one group that I can speak to more than any other...for I am not only the president but also a member! "Real Life" can sometimes not be all that it is cracked up to be...so what do we do? We find/create what we want here. It is our way of satisfying some side of our needs without bringing it into our real lives. I will use me as the example. I am married...5 daughters...one on the way in about 3 weeks. I love my life and would do nothing to change it. However, I desire flirtatious conversation...adult wit and humor...and above all else adult friendships that are not based upon children! haha That is almost impossible to find in "real life" so I get what I need here. From what I have seen...people like me seem to group together...and for that I am thankful. This brings me to the last group.
4. Those who join because friends do: This group is quite small actually. They consist of people who would not normally be here but are because a friend/spouse/bf or gf/adulterous lover belongs. They don't get it! haha We see them for about 2-3 months and then they usually fall away.
5. The fucked up PERVS!!!: Hey, they do exist! Find a profile of someone young...too young...16 say and read some of the comments that are attached to the pics. Hey, I will be the first to say that there are some young women out there that are sexy as hell...but above all else they are YOUNG!!! SICK!!! Perhaps this is the father of 5 daughters talking, but get some fucking help! Hey...realize that the young ones are just wrong...not only illegal. However, I guess we should be thankful this group exists on here...or else they may be trying to live out their sicko fantasies in the "real world"!
Well...perhaps there are more groups, but from what I have seen, the people I meet fall into one, or a combination, of these groups. I would love to get some feedback from those who read this...give me some insite into what you think. And, for those brave enough to do it, tell me where you belong.
