June 25 (Bloomberg) -- Canadian wrestler Chris Benoit was found dead in his Georgia home along with his wife, Nancy, and son, World Wrestling Entertainment Inc. said.
Authorities are investigating the deaths, though no details were available, WWE said in a statement. The Fayetteville County, Georgia, police department said no information would be released until tomorrow.
Benoit, who began his career in Calgary in 1985, became the World Heavyweight Champion in 2004, when he defeated two opponents in a ``Triple Treat Match.'' He also was the WWE's Intercontinental Champion four times and held the World Tag Team and WWE Tag Team championships, according to the WWE Web site.
``Chris was beloved among his fellow superstars, and was a favorite among WWE fans for his unbelievable athleticism and wrestling ability,'' WWE said in the statement.
WWE said it will air a three-hour tribute to Benoit tonight instead of its previously announced programming on USA Network.
