To obtain IP addresses on Windows.
First method.
Click Start Menu
Click Run
Type 'Cmd'
Type 'ipconfig'
It lists all functional ips on your computer or gateway.
Second Method.
Click Start Menu
Locate and Click Command Prompt.
Type 'ipconfig'
Installing a router.
Step One - First on all computer that are going to link to router, follow above method of prefernce but type 'ipconfig /release' after everything else
then leave all computers alone.
Install router and follow instructions on hardware connections. Install cd if needed.
Make sure all computers are plugged into router at this point.
Again do step one and release all computers. Then Type 'ipconfig /renew'
If you experience problems there are a few things you can do.
Go to Network connections through your control panel. Right click on your local area connection and disable. Then again to enable.
You can also go to the command prompt and try releaseing and renewing again.
Logging onto your router.
Again do the first step above and have you ip address listed. Take the Default Gateway ip address and type it into your IE. This will bring the log in screen.
Default is usally:
Admin
