ok...so, before I start my little story...just know that I'm not trying to boast or get any attention...I am just proud of myself for being able to do this....
So, I got paid this morning and just got done paying a few bills along with a partial hefty college payment. Along with all this I still had to go grocery shopping. I didn't know exactly how much I would be able to spend on groceries, so I remember a store that a friend had told me about, Ruler Foods. Their prices are literally half, if not a third the price of regular grocery stores. I finished shopping and as I was bagging my own groceries (they are set up like Aldi), I could hear behind me at another register , a cashier telling a customer that he/she did not have enough for their groceries. I turned around, because well, who doesn't? But when I did, I was heartbroken. There I saw a couple with a cart full of groceries, but what got me was the 2yr old son sitting in the front of the cart and the not even 6 month old (from what I could tell) son sleeping in the mother's arms. I stood there for a minute as I overheard the couple tell the cashier that they were "sorry" and while the couple looked at each other trying to figure out what to do. In that moment, I walked over to them and told them that I would pay the difference. They both asked "Are you sure?" I had just got done paying half of what I normally do, I was more than sure and told them not to worry about a thing. To see the tears and the smiles on that couples face and of the 2yr old's face made my day and I would have to say made my Christmas!!! As I was leaving I told them to have a Merry Christmas and they said the same to me.
Just remember that when you are struggling, there is always someone out there struggling more than you are. Today, I learned that and I was glad that I was able to help that family that needed it just a little more than I did.
