A few seconds, that stretch into moments, into hours....
     I would inhale you breathe you as you lay sleeping.

I would if I could, spend these moments tracing sunlight's dappled patterns
     on your skin with fingertips rife with the scent of our loving.

Willing you to wake, open-eyed wonder at our nearness,
     eyes smiling in shared remembrance.
