The averave bathtub scald burn covers 12% of the body's surface with a thurd degree burn. ****** When tap water is heated to 122 degrees, it takes 30 minutes for a child to get a third-degree burn. When tap water is heated to 149 degrees, a third-degree burn is instantaneous.
