An issue has come about in my family. Today is my Aunt's son's birthday. My son has been invited to attend the family bash, but my daughter was not.
My Aunt and I haven't spoken in about a year, and I know that she's punishing my daughter and didn't invite her because of the issues between her and I. My daughter isn't fully aware of the family issues.
My daughter's feelings are very hurt. My daughter is 14 and her and Matt (who's having the birthday) are very close. My son lives on his own, and my daughter lives with me.
What would you do in this situation? Calling my Aunt is not something that will go very well, as she isn't one to listen, and just hang up.
Do I just explain to my daughter the reason for her not being invited? Since she is old enough to understand?
I hate causing any more drama at this point in time. There is enough as it is in the family. I just am at a loss as to what to do. |
