Benzi's top 15 Albums/Mixtapes of 2007:
15. Beanie Sigel - The Solution: - World knows Beans is the voice of Philly, and i think he stepped his game up big time wit this album. I was at the album release party were Beans explained bout his CD. Its cool to see an artist maturing and showin it in his lyrics.
14. DJ Drama- Gangsta Grillz 17- if you know hip hop mixtapes, you would be retarded if u dunno Drama. After the feds gonna try and lock him up for what he does , he brings out his best mixtape ever, in my opinion. Now I want 5000 Ones. Don’t wry. Im bout 2 get em.
13. Calle 13 – Residente O Visitante: By most people, Best Reggaeton Album ever. To me, most creative Reggaeton Album. Residente spittin bout real life topics while visitante kills it on da beat. I know, u gotta understand Spanish a lil or go to trabslation.com to understand but it’s a reason why Calle 13 grabbed a lotta Latin Grammys.
12. T-Pain – Epiphany: Best sound ive heard in a while by a synthesizer. Besides, every1 singing to the songs in da club. Im glad I made several remixes by Bartender, one of my favorite songs, ever.
11. DJ Khaled presents Sean Kingston – Good Talk – Ya know Sean Kingston but only Miami knows this mixtape. Sean’s lyrics flows like a river over dem beats, even though I think his hooks are way better. 4 real, get this cd or listen wen I play these tracks on the radio.
P.S. this is prolly the Only khaled mixtape that is actually good to remember
10. Lil Wayne – Da Drought is Over 2 – 300 mixtapes a year , I no, I no. but this CD is one to remember. Like I did it before , im jus lighten up my La…la la la la. 4 real, memorable mixtape.
9. Skyzoo – Corner Store Classic – Only TRUE hip hop fans will like this. First, hes reppin my home, Kings County (Brooklyn, NYC) real hard. Second this is proof that hip hop is still breathing in 07. I listen to Underground hip hop a lot and this is one I listen to a lot. It drains on others, you hear dat drip, drip. NO pop lock n drop it shit yooouuuu tye of shit. Again, Only TRUE hip hop fans will like this.
8. Busta Rhymes & J. Dilla – Dillagence – Another one for TRUE hip hop. J Dilla (god bless his soul) is one of the best producers ever and is that sound you never expect. Combine that wit my favorite Busta (another one from Brooklyn) and you have a classic mixtape. Seriously. I listen to it wenever im stressed and it brings u up.
7. Trey Songz – Trey day : This album made me like R&B again. I don’t care but u gotta respect boys like Chris Brown , Mario and Trey Songz. I can see myself playin this CD ten years from now. Can’t stop missin you, but cant help but wait ;-)
6. Lil Wayne – Da Drought is Over 4 : to me, very good Weezy mixtape. Some tracks r wack, but there are a few that ill play wen im 40 years old lol. R Jeezy knows bout Brand New… a track that every1 n their mamas will like Lil wayne n babyface “Get too Comfortable “ and a track that is my all time favorite, weezy n wyclef “Operate On Me” best love story in a while. This shit is legendary
5. DJ Benz presents Probable Cauze : to me , the best mixtape I hosted. Argento Records and Future Star DJs thought so too. Got both of us signed. This shit is one to remember. If you really know me, you heard this tape b4.
P.S. it took Kiko and I 9 days to put the tape together. Jus 9 days. From, “Benz I wanna make a mixtape” to “Sign the contract”
4. Wyclef Jean – Carnaval II – one of the most creative albums ever. Only Wyclef can put System of a Down, Sizzla, Norah jones, T.I. Akon and Lil Wayne together and make a classic. Hehe, you know Port-Au-Prince is commin back wit this one
3. Common – Finding Forever : a True Hip Hop record that made #1 for a reason. Lyrics are meaningful, spoked word poetry, and the beats are sickening. Forever begins today I guess. Reminds me why I love poetry so much.
2. Kanye West – Graduation : Every1 has this Cd and if you like 50 cent more, stop reading my shit! I rarely see a CD that is put together perfectly from track 1 to the last track. If this CD was found 500 years from now, this would be an artifact. This CD had me on some other shit. Something that makes you think doesn’t it? Theres more to this cd besides Good Life, like Flashing Lights, one of the best songs and beats of all time.
1. DJ Benz presents Kiko Kaniver – True Face : Ok, I said Benzi’s top 15, not Yours!!! Lol but this CD means a lot to me and my brother from another mother. This cd officially got me in the mixtape game. I don’t know where Kiko or I would be without this CD. Made every1 say, “damn these boys r serious bout this”. Gave both of us the confidence to go complete our goals of being known in the music business.
