Started last Friday. Both of us got real sick! It was consentrated in our lower intestinal area through the groin. We could barely move. It had felt like someone had kicked us in our groin. Felt severely bruised all throughout the reproductive area.
I had been wracking my brain trying to figure out what we both ate or did to make us sick. I fix supper twice most nights. He eats a different meal than me because of his appetite and no teeth.
The only thing I could relate both of us exposed to is the terpentine. The workers on the house used way too much terpentine and strong odor of a gas smell hung in the apt all day and most of Saturday. I will have to call the landlord and have
him ask his workers not to use so much if any at all around here because Jerry has no immune system to fight the fumes. Found out from the woman who gave him his shot that it was a form of flu. So either one or both of these are factors in our illnesses. Plus the rainly weather we had for the weekend did not help his joints that has arthritus in them.
I managed to stay awake for a couple hours at a time before having to lay back down. I slept most of Saturday away. Sunday was not much better as I stayed up all day and night because Jerry was in such pain he did not want to be left alone. I could not sleep on the couch so I sat in the arm chair all night.
Monday found us still in pain but not as bad for me. Jerry found he could not move his left leg it was much too painful. He could not stand. The pain centered from his left testical and inner thigh. He was able to move a little by Wednesday and his nephew took him to the VA ER. They gave him a shot of demoral which did not help. Doctor there said the tumor near his spine has moved the wrong way and They gave him some steroids to take and took blood, did a KAT scan and sent him home.
Today the doctor called and want him to be admitted to the hospital to run some more tests requested by his doctor in Atlanta. Jerry will refuse to go back and fourth to Atlanta as it stresses him out so much that the treatment he gets has no effect. It causes him great pain to be riding in the uncomfortable vans for so long.
We are scouting for a transfer bench(Item that he can sit in the shower instead of stand) that bought new will be $70. Also looking for a hospital bed to put in the living room for him. Prices range from $200 used, to new which are not cheap. A walker or tripod canes so he can get up and at least stand and move around some. I have already mentally re-arranged the furniture in the living room to accomodate the hospital bed and anything else he would need. The couch is too low for him to get up and down.
I still hurt. At times it seems like it is gone and I get up to move and the pain grabs me and says "not yet!!". He will go into the hospital tonight and hopefully come home tomorrow after they do all of their tests.
