Beautiful Tearfish Within
my eyes are melting
ever streaming down
upon a deep and splendid aching
in the heart
a pool where tearfish swim and leap
in this
a soft and gentle pool
so many a hurt
so many a woe
tearfish there are beautiful
each one with fins unique
some are born of anger
red-finned with a fiery glow
some are birthed in streams of joy
bright yellow and orange like wildflowers in bloom
other tearfish are rainbows
shadowed with each experience
some are birthed within the deep of hurt and pain
these are blue-finned tearfish tinted indigo
they swim within the stream
of the heart
the soul
the mind
memories attached
to wade this stream one must prepare
to feel the fins attack
sharp as daggers
piercing through the toughest skin
to bleed the blood of life
many tearfish hide within
waiting for us to swim
the waves
of memory's endless sea
