"It's all such a blur," Carey said shortly after being picked. "I'm just walking around with a big smile. I don't know what's going on. I get to start my dream job this week. I've been waiting to say this for so long: I am an NFL player."

Carey is the first Arizona player to be drafted since the Cleveland Browns took cornerback Trevin Wade in the seventh round of the 2012 draft. It was a drought that spanned 379 picks over three drafts.

After spending Friday night at Fox and Hound Sports Tavern for a draft party, Carey retreated to a relative's house Saturday morning for the remainder of the draft. The Bears tried calling Carey before the pick, but his phone never rang.

"I guess I had bad service," Carey said laughing. "My mom just said 'typical Ka'Deem,'"

Carey was on the cheap nfl jerseys floor, playing Dominoes with a few friends when his named popped up on the NFL Network.

He stood up and hugged several family members to loud cheers.

Carey will report for rookie mini camp on Thursday.

"I've never been to Chicago, never driven through Chicago, never flown through Chicago, nothing," Carey said. "I can't wait to get there."

His college coach, Rich Rodriguez, said he was driving to his office at the Lowell Stevens Football Facility when he got an alert on his phone that Carey was picked.

"I'm thrilled for him," Rodriguez said. "He deserves it."

Carey had a private workout for the Bears at the UA last week and said it went well.

"I was money that day," Carey said. "They said they really liked me after that so I was watching the Bears closely the whole draft."

Carey said he also worked out for the Jacksonville Jaguars and thought they could possibly pick him.

Cornerback Shaq Richardson was picked one round later by the Pittsburgh Steelers with the 157th overall pick. Linebacker Marquis Flowers could also be a late round pick. If he isn't drafted, Flowers is a candidate to sign rookie free agent contract shortly after the draft.

For more on the draft, check back to StarNet later in the day as well as Sunday's Star.

Daniel Berk began covering UA football in 2013 after spending two plus years as the Star's high school sports coordinator.

A University of Kansas graduate and St. Louis native, Berk cheap jerseys is still getting used to 350 days of sunshine, the relentless "dry heat" of the summer and the fact that Tucson doesn't have a real hockey rink.
