walking home from school in the country, the day was sunny and bright
a boy saw a classmate being jumped, broke it up cause he felt it wasnt right They walked along and talked for awhile then each took a different path down the road a ways a group of angry teens caught him with their wrath
at twelve he gave quite the struggle. hell, he almost got away
but the rifle shots had him pinned down, behind a tree he was forced to stay.
He heard them closing in, using lots of racial slurs
then a rock came thru the sky and everything was a blur
he awoke from the darkness he knew it was night.
an old clock radio played country music, it was his only source of light.
his hands were tied securely, he was in some abandoned shack
He heard a car pull up and stop, but it was the teens just coming back
for days during the day he was beaten, each night horrified he cried
He prayed for strength, help and even for death.
but day after day was denied
at last they came and removed him he was thrown in the trunk of a car
then they got in and drove he had no idea where or how far
when the trunk opened his eye spotted a quarry, where he had hiked many times in the past
he thought if I could just make it there, I know Ill be free at last.
they were arguing about what to do next, lets tie him to the car and drag him nah, lets leave him he practically dead. I know get the rope out the car, theres a tree we can hang him there instead
as the two pulled him out of the trunk, he knew that it was time
he kicked one and ran for his life to the quarry near the old coal mine
how he made it he often wonders, but he did and up the quarry he went
eventually he made it home, slept for 2 day his body so spent
as the story spread the boy became famous
got get well cards and gifts from people all across the land
a marine even came to the hospital, gave him a medal and shook his hand noone was ever arrested, the boy and his family move far away
yet the boy was always famous for what happened on that day
whenever he would shout at them "please just leave me be"
they replied son, youre some1special, and your always gonna be!
