I'm off my meds!
... for almost 7 years.
Let's talk about food.
Alright- for this experiment
you will need
A bag of Soy beans (you can buy em fresh when they're in season, I get mine plucked seperated and bagged in my grocer's freezer section)
About a cup will do
About a cup of diced cured chorizo (substitute pepporoni if you can't get chorizo)
A 1/4 cup of hard cheese (I use pecorino romano- you can use any dry, aged italian hard cheese like Parmesan)
3/4 cup of jasmine rice or long grain rice
a
rice cooker and about 1 1/2 cups of water.
That's it.
Put the above mentioned ingredients
In the rice cooker.
Set it and walk off.
In less than half an hour
You will have a meal.
It will be rich.
It will be slightly smokey.
It will be delicious. I barely season mine when its out- but soysauce and balsalmic vinegar, red pepper, salt, pepper olive oil or butter are welcome additions.
And ... healthy actually.
Sure the meat has a high fat content in it, but there's not that much of it, its mostly for flavor, and its got green stuff and rice.
And yes.
I eat this stuff without the chorizo
and without the cheese.
Fun factoid number two
I also cut off chunks of fatty steaks (like ribeye and primerib) and just chuck it into the rice cooker sometimes. I sometimes use this same recipe sans chorizo with beef fat in it instead.
You can discard the fat or use it to season a pan, or give it to your favorite dog in the whole wide world.
It doesn't work as well as when I do it for gallo pinto in my rice cooker, maybe it has something to do with the tomatos or the beans- but it works.
Try it.
It's lunch tomorrow.
