Asian-Style Honey Vegetable Stir-Fry
Here's a quick and delicious stir-fry recipe that gets a nice mellow sweetness from a shot of honey. Feel free to add tofu, meat or shrimp if you like, and serve the dish over brown rice or noodles.
Servings: 4
Ingredients:
* 1/4 cup honey
* 1/4 cup prepared stir-fry sauce
* 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
* 4 teaspoons vegetable oil
* 2 cups small broccoli florets
* 2 cups mushrooms, sliced if large
* 1 small onion, cut into wedges and separated
* 1 medium carrot, cut diagonally
Directions:
In a small bowl, combine the honey, stir-fry sauce and crushed red pepper flakes; set aside.
In a wok or large skillet, heat the oil over medium-high heat; add the vegetables and toss while cooking, about 2 to 3 minutes. Add the honey sauce and stir until all of the vegetables are glazed and the sauce is bubbly hot, about 1 minute.
Substitution tip: Peanut oil may be substituted for vegetable oil.
