I am in the military and have been for 14 years now. Over the course of these 14 years, I have had to endure the health care that is touted as a perk to military men and women for so long. Oh, I am also including dental care in this as well.
Well, after long consideration and more than enough run-ins with the military health care system, I have decided to seek out private health care options. The standard of care that I have received as an officer has been poor to say the least. I know that our enlisted Soldiers do not receive half the care that I do, so I am even more appalled to think how it is for them. The Soldiers that I have had the honor of commanding, were thankfully very healthy. However, horror stories of others did trickle back.
I know that some may think that I should try to change the system, but you know it is not as simple as making a complaint, otherwise the care at Walter Reed would have been changed long before the dismay level of care reached the eyes and ears of the general public.
As a nation, we should be appalled at the treatment that has been given our veterans. You voted for this war president and war congress, now you should feel ashamed that you have let them treat us so poorly. We have done all that has been asked and more, but out of sight, out of mind rules the day in the peoples' opinion. Why don't you all help and complain as vociferously for us as you do for treatment of animals or human rights' violations? Where are our rights?
