Well, to look or to see. This is the struggle. As an artist I am obligated to see not just look. To truly make art we must understand what it is that we are trying to recreate. Like I said before not any fruit, that fruit. We must hone in and caress that fruit with our eyes in its entirety. Its gradations its shape its quirkiness its simplicity of essence its complexities . In a manner of speaking we must own the object what erver it may be.
To me art is a great way for me to escape. Anything goes in my world. If I want the light on the left or right. If one object wants to float while all the others can't; that's my prerogative. If I want water to be pink it is. If the clouds want to be green that's no problem. You get the point. I wield the world were as reality wields me. I love to work on anything from life to imagination. Being that my traditional training gave me a solid background in drawing what I see not, what I think I see. It is my belief that this has helped me to unlock new potential. This meaning that now that I have an understanding of the reality around me it helps me to create my own with greater power. Of corse art is in the eye of the beholder, it may be feces to you. I love the way that Cazzon was constantly honing in on his target. You can see it in the still Life's. Carving in on the fruit, each mark getting him closer to that fruit, not just some fruit. This is something that sticks with me. Anthony Palliser one of my collage professors, whom taut me water color. ( one of the hardest medias ever) Traded me one of his for one of mine. He went back to Paris for summer and when he came back he payed me the most wonderful complement. one of his artist friends was looking through the work he had gotten through trade. When the one i gave him came up the friend asked," who did this Cazzon-esc piece?"
