Arguments from breeders

"But the animals I breed get (good) homes." You're kidding right? What about the animals that DONT GET HOMES just because YOU breed. Just because you find an animal a home doesn't mean it will be there forever, a lot of times people who buy a dog from a breeder will be in a situation where they can't have the animal anymore.. (kids on the way, getting a new house, moving to a place where pets are unwelcome, etc.) However, if a person gets a pet from a shelter, they are less likely to take it BACK to a shelter, knowing they saved it's life. Honestly, if you buy a dog, and you are willing to just give that dog away to a place that may kill it, FOR ANY REASON you are a bad parent, and need not buy an animal anyway. If you love your animal, no matter what your living situation, you would always find a way. Would you give your kids up for adoption if your new land lord didnt like them because they were too destructive? NO! You would find a place where they are welcome, and you should do the same for your pet. He/she is a member of the family. "I really like this particular breed" So, liking that particular breed means they are more deserving to live? That is kind of a racist thing to say. If you really liked that particular breed at all, you would go to the shelters in your tri county area and adopt all of the animals of that breed that are GOING TO DIE instead of making more. That would be showing that you like that breed. "There is a demand for the type of dog I breed." You need to educate the people around you then. If they want that breed of dog, tell them where they can SAVE ONE. Tell them to adopt one. If they like that breed, and their heart goes out to that kind of animal, I am sure their heart would go out to that breed of dog stuck in an empty cage, waiting TO DIE at the local shelter. If they like the breed that much I'm sure they are willing to save ones life. If not, they don't deserve a dog. "Oh but I am a good breeder, I treat my dogs really well." If you have ever said this, I would like you to reach around behind you and YANK YOUR HEAD OUT OF YOUR ASS!! There are no good breeders. Simple as that. If you are breeding, you are a fool. There are too many animals, and not enough homes, common sense would tell us that breeding more is only making the problem worse. Honestly, if you treat "your" animals good, how in the world does that justify euthanizing millions of others? It doesnt. Giving your dogs space to run, a good diet, lots of love and care is great, but is still indirectly KILLING innocent animals. "I'm a breeder and I do volunteer work for my local shelter. I do my part in helping so leave me alone" WOW. That's great. I do crack 5 days a week and eat a salad 4 times a day. It all evens out. Umm. NO. If you work at the shelter 7 days a week, while breeding animals, it still isn't enough time to clean up the mess you are making, let alone the mess that all breeders combined are making. Helping find homes for SOME animals, while at home breeding more is an oxymoron. Doesn't it occur to you when you see all those homeless, death row animals that breeding more would increase that problem? If not, you have no heart and no brain and need not even breed children!
