calicoeyes41's blog: "My Hero"

created on 02/26/2009  |  http://fubar.com/my-hero/b280591
My Hero My hero is probably the most common hero out there. She is someone I know inside and out. Also, she is someone I deeply respect. Without her, I would not be the person I am today. Of course, my hero is my mother – who else? There are so many reasons for this. I will point out three of them. She is very strong, caring, and generous. So much comes from just three words, as I will soon explain. I will explain the first reason; my mother is the strongest person I know. When I was younger, my dad had alcohol problems and did not help out as a father figure in the family. This made my mom’s job twice as hard. A lot of stress came with the years we lived with him. My mom had never been alone so she was afraid to leave. But she knew that it was not the right life for my brother, sister and I. So she finally decided to leave my dad despite of the troubles that followed. My second reason for picking my mother as my hero is that she is caring. The reason for this is hard for some people to understand but it has taken a huge affect on my life. A couple of years ago, my mom was married to my ex-step dad. But they were having problems and I asked my mom if I would have to move to a new school again. Knowing and understanding that I really did not want to move to a new school in my last few years of high school, she promised me that no matter what, I could graduate at Happy Valley High. That promise was kept when my mom divorced once again and met someone new in another city not so close to home. As hard as I know it was for her, because it was equally as hard for me, to move away, she left and let me stay here with my grandparents. This was, I believe, the hardest thing my mother ever had to do. But we are even closer now than ever before, which I never thought was possible. My mom is a very generous woman. Even when she barely had the money to afford anything for herself, she would always make sure that my brother, sister and I always had food on the table and clothes on our back. She made a lot of sacrifices throughout the years, but I believe she has gained so much by doing so. Now that I have a job, car, and a cell phone, I am learning that responsibility isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. I have not missed a payment yet, though, and I owe that to her. When I would not make enough money on a paycheck, she would gladly give me more than what I needed so that I could make it through the pay period. She is always there for my support. In conclusion, I owe so much to this miraculous woman. She has brought me up to be the person I am today, and I am not disappointed at all. I have learned a lot from her, whether it is the mistakes she has made or the advice she has given. She has supported all my thoughts and actions throughout my life. I know that she is there for a shoulder to cry on or even as a friend to just talk to. That is why she is definitely, without a doubt, my hero.
