Well now that Anna has been put to rest and the remainder of her friends and family take the legal fight to what she left behind we can move forward. RIP Anna.
The Democrats still fighting the Republican president for their share of the power has decided to use the United States military as a key pawn in the game. It is not like the men and women that are now serving have enough to worry about, firefights, IED’s, Iranian backing and now our own political leaders.
The talk went from cutting off funding to the military that was quickly silenced because of the unpopular response from key political supporters who decided that cutting off the supplies would lead to a higher number of losses that could be blamed on the current administration, but may end up falling back in their own laps. The military health care system is now the key target. This would be a great time to bring up the facts as known by everyone who has served and uses these facilities. They are understaffed, overrated and lack the expertise that we provide to most third world countries.
Getting an appointment to see a doctor in the majority of these facilities sometimes requires an 18 month to 2 year wait. They provide the most basic of services though they chant that they are state of the art facilities. You have to remember being state of the art to politician’s means they can provide more than aspirin and a blood pressure check.
But when did all the failures actually start? The failure of the system is not something that is new and has been around for long time.
President Clinton would never admit that it happened on his watch, but there is not a president that would want that to be known to the general public. Especially when his spouse is trying to use it as part of her current campaign platform. Former President Clinton had hollowed out our military much like was done after the Vietnam war, he cut the budget to use the money to bolster other areas that he had promised to make better during his run for the oval office.
We that were in the military at the time saw large quantities of equipment being put in mothballs. We had an entire section of our motorpool dedicated to vehicles and equipment that we could not use because we could not get parts for or we just didn’t have the manpower to utilize it. Healthcare service were not protected from these budget cuts and suffered along with the rest of us. Good doctors, nurses and medical staff were being driven out of the military right along with the rest of us. New plans were devised to make it harder to stay in for longer periods of time. They offered cash incentives to those that chose to leave early, those that didn’t found they were capped by the number of years they could stay on active duty. The entire plan was to drop the military to a skeleton crew and if needed use our National Guard and Reserves to bolster any actions that may come up in the future. The health care system was to be manned by civilians with no previous ties to the military. That leads to where we are today. The military health care system is being run by a company that could care less about our troops. They still call it TriCare, but the truth be known it is Federated Health Care. Don’t get me wrong here, they provide most of the basic services need to those in need, but their major goal is to save and make money. To get to this point that they provide the troops with inadequate care and lower standards of treatment in substandard facilities. This is nothing new it has been going on for decades, and it is only being brought to light now because of the upcoming elections. After the new president is elected and in office you will no longer hear about it, and nothing will ever be done to correct it. The Veterans that have served and those injured look forward to a lifetime of neglect, inadequate care, shoddy facilities and long waits. That is the long and short of it all.
