Angel's story (part)

Jandor an elven ranger finds a infant laying in a nest area atop a mountain that was filled with many beasts. Rumored to be home to a crafty and old silver dragon, tho no one had ever seen it themselves. Unsure of why an infant would be in the area, let alone one that was quite clearly at least part elven it had to have been stolen. Even so he had no idea if there where indeed any missing children. He couldn't take the chance to leave an infant alone to the elements, and the creatures of the area. He wrapped her in his spare tunic and carried her with him back to the village. Leaving her temporarily with the town elders while he busied himself with his activities. Sure that the elders had already figured out where the child belonged. "We were unable to locate this child's parents. There are many willing to take her in while you are on your travels. You must take responsibility for the child,at least until parents can be found." Protesting in disgust Jandor said" I am a ranger. I have no time to care for an infant, let alone a half elf with no parents. You ask for me to be her father, be responsible for the child. I must refuse." Lisimya spoke in a very gentle tone." You rescued this child from what you felt to be great danger; would abandon her now? Surely not, and we'll have none of it. We will see to the child until she can go with you. This is the decision we have made." Bowing Jandor scooped up the infant and looked to the little girl. Thinking she was so pale, so small and fragile. He heard the truth in the words they spoke and took her away. Years passed, The small child was now called Hith. Nothing more. Granted her name for her appearance. Long white hair with a near silver sheen to it spilled over her shoulders. Her Skin white as the mist that covered the evening. She had taken a liking to playing in the mist. She sometimes looked to be standing atop the very mist, so very much a part of it. She was a good child but very different from the rest. On this particular evening she had climbed into a tree. Janor had come to tell her she needed to get down. Somehow he frightened her calling out to her. She fell from the tree in slow motion not only in slow motion but landing on her feet. Smiling at Jandor she said" I did it!" Thrilled at her success. As she had practiced many times always getting it right. Still, no one ever had seen. Jandor frowned. Knowing she truly could pose a danger to the elven village. " Hith, It is time. You are coming with me. You do not belong here anymore. Your grand trick shows me just how much you are ready to come with me." Elated the child wrapped her arms around Jandor. "Really? You'll let me come with you. This means you'll let me find my mother and father." Jandor smiled truly warmed by her excitement. Then remembered what needed to be done and stroked her misty hair down as the child held him." Yes, you may come with me. I need you to remember you will not be coming back." Packing up and leaving the villiage that night. As they traveled Jandor talked to the child. He said that if she ever needed to know more about herself she need only ask. but what she needed most was a family. Her own likely impossible to find or dead. The child wept hearing this from Jandor, she had belived all this time that she did have parents somewhere, who wanted her. She asked about what he knew of her parents. He considered answering her right away. Deciding instead to tell her one of your parents was a half elf. No one knows them. Perhaps a great sorcerer can someday tell you more than I. Stopping to rest Jandor slept soundly. Heartbroken and hungry the child awoke. Rising and slowly creeping away. Using all of the skill she possed to make sure she did not stir Jandor as he slept. Wandering for the longest time till the orange streaks covered the sky telling of the coming morning. Suddenly, she heard the beat of a horse nearby and ducked into the long grass. "Child you there. I will not harm you are you lost? Please, show yourself." Peaking out slowly her golden eyes looking like a wild cat of some type the man reached for his sword. As she emerged he took his hand away still shaken by her eyes." Sir, I am alone. I am looking for my mother and father. You see they are gone, I believe dead. Can you help me?" A man of means Esten Pendragon was. He owned much of the land in the area and was well respected. As he entered town with a young child atop his horse he barely raised any interest of most of the towns people who believed Esten could do whatever he wished. "Isabel, Arie, come. We have a guest." He shouted toward the house. Running outside the lady of the house and her daughter came. The lady of the house, Isabel greeted the child. "Hello, what is your name miss?" Isabel asked." " I have none, I am Hith." The child murmured shrinking into herself beginning to think this a more unwise idea than showing Jandor her trick had been. Esten laughed," We will need to give you a name then. I will call you my angel if that is ok." The child smiled up at Esten and Isabel. "Yes, I would like that. Merrily Arie chimed in. "Welcome Angel."
