WARNING: UGLY FEET PHOTO AT THE END

So I saw the doc yesterday and I had the really insane idea that I would be going back into regular shoes again. NOT!! Oh well. I can be extremely thankful that everything seems to be progressing well and at quite a rapid pace (as these things go).

WHAT'S BEEN GOING ON:

I had the surgery on the 15th of July (as you most likely know) and I had huge worries about the i.v. insertion. I'm quite needle phobic when it comes to the kind that have to stay inside for any amount of time and when it comes to those ass shots ... I just plain don't like them. When faced with even the thought of having blood drawn or in this case having an i.v. inserted I'm overtaken by anxiety/panic attacks and you might mistake me for a 3 y.o. child when you see the tears and shaking. They helped me tremendously by applying a numbing cream and putting me under before inserting the needle.

Well I got through the surgery with flying colors and my first thought on waking up was ... "Did I snore?" After being told no they checked my pain levels, removed the iv (I watched and asked tons of questions), gave me prescriptions for percocet and oxycontin and sent me on my way with my big sexy shoes and a pair of crutches.

I'm amazed and glad to say that had I not been required to take the oxycontin I would have taken pain pills only 3 times in the past two weeks. Most of my pain has come from nothing more than swelling or doing too much walking some days.

WHAT HAPPENED YESTERDAY:

I walked into the little room and was told (I'm sure you know the drill) to sit on the bed and remove my sexy shoes. I was a bit nervous to see my feet as just two nights before I'd dreamt that they looked hideous, but I needn't have worried at all really. The nurse came in and removed the cotton wrapping, the small hard bit inside, and my stitches. Her conclusion was that my incisions are healing quite quickly (won't know about the bones for another 6 weeks). After that I sat freezing in the room for at least 20 minutes (at least it helped a bit with the swelling) and when the doc arrived he agreed that things are progressing quite well. I was given toe spacers to keep the big toes from setting inwards again. I'm to see him again in 6 weeks (Sept. 11 @ 9am of all times) at which point we will be able to take x-rays and see what's going on inside and also the Wonderful Wonderful day of going back into regular shoes again. YAY!!! I am soooo excited for this and also to start working on getting both my feet and my body ready to start dancing again. At the moment I'm only able to stretch a little bit and work on my abs ~ luckily I am one of those that tends to lose instead of gain weight while on vacation.

Well that's it unless of course you want to scroll down and see what my feet look like at the moment (including still having the doc's initials markered on them :-s). Thanks for reading and sharing the journey on the road to getting my life back. :D
