Music is a huge part of my day to day life, as I'm sure it is for many. Events stick in my memory because of a piece of music/song/gig that I've been to...or memories are "evoked" when I hear a piece of music.

The following are a few that immediately came to mind from a (fairly) long ago period in my life...and instantly brought a smile to my face..

Blood on Blood (live) 2nd row of a Sold out Giants stadium, 2001. Every hair on the back of my neck was on end...goosebumps everywhere. Not just an amazing moment, but a great trip with some wonderful friends.

Sultans of swing album. Specifically hanging out in Mark Woods bedroom during the summer of 1990 with a new group of friends. This "saved" me from being with my regular friends for the summer who all retuned to school in the Sept of 1990 smoking, to some degree or another. So glad I didnt have to face the peer pressure at that point in time.

Poison - Talk dirty to me. The Cat, Nantwich...Saturday Rock night throughout the early to mid 1990's. Hearing this song instantly takes me back to those nights and to nights in the Royal drinking purple nasties. Happy days.

Motley Crue/Kiss - various songs..instantly take me back to cycling to college listening to the walkman (before ipod days!! lol) A friend with an astonishing music collection (even today) made mix tapes for me....those cycle rides were far more bearable with them.

Anything by Mr Cash..reminds me of my mum who is a huge fan - needless to say i listened to a lot of him growing up.

Anything by the Welsh Male Voice choir...reminds me of my dad who is a huge fan and plays the songs way too loud on a Sunday!

Thriller - Georgina E's birthday party in the church hall - a disco..the first I had been to...the girls giggled at the boys who just giggled at the girls. Hot dogs with onions and fizzy pop - a heady mix!! (we were 8...give me a break!)

Debbie Harry - french kissing in the usa. Deeside Ice rink - saturday nightdisco on ice circa 1990-1993... Haven't a clue why they played it so much - they just did.

Lastly, Im posting some of the lyrics to a song that is distinctly uncool..but that I love. Mainly because each line is sooooo very true (in my book anyway...)

Savage Garden - Affirmation (1st verse and chorus)

I believe the sun should never set upon an argument
I believe we place our happiness in other people's hands
I believe that junk food tastes so good because it's bad for you
I believe your parents did the best job they knew how to do
I believe that beauty magazines promote low self esteem
I believe I'm loved when I'm completely by myself alone

I believe in Karma what you give is what you get returned
I believe you can't appreciate real love 'til you've been burned
I believe the grass is no more greener on the other side
I believe you don't know what you've got until you say goodbye

(check out the song on youtube if you are not familiar with it)

Bye for now :-)

Song of the moment : Matchbox 20... 3am. No, Im not sharing the reason ;)
