ANOTHER HANDICAPPED WEEKEND (Lix is off work Fridays & Saturdays)
Both ankles have been sore this week, not the awful piercing pain, but the awful ever present, if you move it hurts pain.
Today, the physical therapist is supposed to help me learn to navigate the steps without going down them bump, bump, on my butt. Going down isn't as much a problem as lifting my body-weight to go up! I hope I can do this without having to end up on the kitchen floor like I have been doing.
I'm ready to be able to go to the kitchen & make coffee & actually carry a cup to drink .. dunno when I can do that!
We have learned the wheelchair accessible is not wheelchair friendly. I've had some bumpy rides & pushing over carpeting isn't easy for my pusher, Lix.
Another problem we have faced is that a broken bone didn't hand me a Handicapped pass for parking. Yes, I did flag down security in a parking lot & say, "Don't call the cops or the tow truck. See this ankle & this one. And see that wheelchair? We're parking in this handicapped spot for a few minutes, k?" (I think I embarrassed Lix, but it wasn't the first time & I would wager it won't be the last time, either)
Soooooooooooo we're going out to eat when the PT Perky Lady leaves - I've checked online to see the restaurant is accessible (get the picture here? you don't just jump into the vehicle & head out with the Summer Fun my season ticket to Magic Spring bought me!)
I fell off the first page - top 42 hottest chicks on the hotness style homepage - a spot that's included me for the last six months or longer.
It's my fault for not being here as much to rate/like/help as much as I have the past six months but I have a reason to be AFK more .. I have physical theapy twice a week and exercises daily, doctor's appointment once a week, an aide helping me twice a week .. so you see what you do without giving it a second thought takes me an hour or two these days .. and wears me out physically .. I have to rest a lot with my ankles propped above my heart to reduce swelling, too.
I guess if I were totally crushed by losing my spot in the top 42 chicks, I'd be clicking boomerangs instead of blogging though...
My day was spent doing what I felt I needed to do ... helping people level, plan happy hours, finish widowmaker, get family adds, and I made some pictures for my friends to use .. some screen shots for a couple others early this morning .. I've had leveling mumms & blasts that needed my attention, friends with a new lounge or had just begun d.j'ng that wanted me to come see them.
I enjoyed some playtime, cutting up with friends in the shout box .. but hey - I'm here for fun, remember?
Bottom line - if you read this and understand I'm a little blue about dropping off page one, share a smile with me .. mine's buried on page 2

I am not busy on fubar as much as usual.. my friends, you understand it's because I feel bad, not because I don't want to be here .. you know I don't post negative statuses that whine, and I just feel like whining most of the time, it hurts that badly.
I'm learning how to deal with this life without two feet .. mostly by ERROR
I discovered I was putting too much weight on my worse ankle, which can tolerate ZERO weight, just trying to balance to stand long enough to transfer myself from my recliner to my handy dandy porta potty chair.. honestly, it's standing to pull my britches up & down (blush). After I used the handy dandy I hurt like crazy and figured out what I was doing wrong.. just touching my foot to the carpet puts too much weight on that ankle he operated on.
The doctor prescribed pain meds every 6-8 hours after the hospital dispensed them every 4 hours .. well guess what.. I'm abusing them today because it hurts that bad and I will get on THE DOCTOR'S schedule when I don't cry the last 2 hours. Turn me in, I'm a criminal drug abuser.
Soooooooooo... if you talk to me today & I don't make much sense, blame the painkillers .. but you wouldn't see me at all if I didn't take them (and just a note.. I haven't fudged on the time, yet! but I plan to with the next severe pain at 4 hours if it comes to that!)
Home from the hospital
They put in 7 screws & a plate to repair the broken right ankle.
My left ankle is stronger & can bear 1/2 my weight so I can hold on & kina stand on it & pivot to get from Spot A to Spot B, but there is no "walking" yet, just stand up, pivot & sit on what I need to be on next, like the recliner or wheelchair seat.
Lix can't miss work so we tried to think of everything I would need the next 12 hours before he left, and have everything within my arms' reach, but he will phone at lunch to see if he needs to come home to make any adjustments to the arrangement!
It would help IMMENSELY if I wasn't a total CONTROL FREAK and could leave some things up to others to take over...but I have to do them myself so I know without doubt they are done (my way).
Lix & I had a big day at Magic Springs Amusement Park & Crystal Falls Water Park in Hot Springs, AR planned, ending with their concert series featuring Gretchen Wilson. We even planned to stop at IHOP in the Benton area for breakfast on the way home.
We were concerned with a chance of rain in the forecast.. yeah, right...
Arrived early.. before 11 a.m. and got a pretty good parking place not the LAST row where we had to park the last time we were there. The line to enter the park wasn't too long either!
We got a locker to stow our stuff in and decided not to change into of our swimming suits yet.. to go ride the rides while we had the required attire.
We found a ride we had not ridden on our other trips, Twist & Shout! a roller-coaster. There was a line with not a long wait, and we enjoyed the thrill ride.
Coming off the ride, we walked toward the park's "street" side by side, chatting about what we liked and comparing the ride to others. When I stepped off the platform, I didn't see the 'divet' in the pavement where it met the grass.. a spot not 3" by 1" and 1/2 inch deep... such a little area to wreak havoc with massive impact!
My heel of my left foot, Lix says, must have hit the spot because it twisted my ankle when I stepped onto the uneven pavement there.
As I was falling, my right ankle not the bottom of my shoe hit pavement, and I hear little crunches...
I must have put my right hand down to catch myself, just like I did when I broke my right wrist in 2005.
Now I am home, without any more riding rides & no water rides ridden today .. sadly missing the Gretchen Wilson concert.. I'M HERE FOR THE PARTY will be played without this REDNECK WOMAN there for the party ..
I sat at the entrance to the ride for about 30 minutes, waiting on a stretcher, and went to the ER in Hot Springs. X-rays showed a sprained left ankle and right wrist, but that right ankle has 3 broken bones and will require surgery.
Since I had eaten and the orthopedic doctor wasn't there, they told me the surgery would be Sunday, the day Lix goes back to work, 150 miles from the hospital where they wanted to admit me. I figured we could come home and go to our local hospital for surgery tomorrow, and Lix would not miss work.
The local orthopedic doctor told the Hot Springs doctor I could just come in Monday, his next working day.. but that made a big problem .. I couldn't sit in the truck until Monday!
As expected, the local hospital couldn't admit me for two days of pain management before the orthopedist would be available, so we hi-jacked a load of guys from a friend's party to literally carry me up the 5 steps into our home and deposit me onto my recliner, with the promise of returning Monday to reverse the process.
My friend Debbie in Louisiana chose to have surgery on both her wrists at one time, but I don't think anyone would choose to have both ankles out of commission simutaneously!
