I think I've had a few distinct periods in my work.
Going way back- "The conglomeration of poetry henceforth referred to as Red Hot Kung fu volume 1."
Melissa. ... *coughs* yeah, she's probably not doing so great right now. And the college experience itself.
My white period
... okay before I keep using that word get your giggles out about vagina blood
because I think about that every time I say it
and don't get me started on the word "partner".
white period
probably includes most of my work about Atarah and the project "What Have I...", white void, etc
rage period
immediately following white period
for obvious reasons, probably a subperiod, but it did kinda transition into blue
void period/blue period
Aims. Icarus rising.
A smidge of Marenna.
Bad fish/red/fire
... current.
And I think I'm going to use fire as a motif
sparks, smoldering, conflagrations, inferno... so on.
I think I'll have fun with it.
I like recurring metaphors, if you couldn't tell.
In the meantime, I turn 25 this week. ... woo? and with every anniversary of my birth, I evaluate my life see what directions I need to go, mistakes I've made, triumphs, defeats and deflates
where I should be, where I want to be, my goals and priorities
But that also means I have to spend most of a hard-earned weekend with my crazy ass family, and deranged senile grandmother.
... less than woo.
*shrugs* I'll do what I can to get out of it, my mom's really not catching on to the fact that I'm deliberately severing ties with most of my family at this period in my life.
"and maybe we'll spend some time and get everyone together for dinner"
"Pass." My immediate and emphatic response.
"How come?!"
"... seriously?" My incredulous disdain meaning "do we really have to fucking do this every time?"
"Okay we'll talk about it later"
I'm sociophobic, these people are loud, obnoxious drug addled and do-not-like-me as evidenced by repeated snubs throughout my life, and they can't reign in their children or their commentary.
I'd really rather not.
And I explain that every fucking time someone forgets. (which is at least twice a month).
I should really just carry around a pamphlet and hand it out.
It'd save me a lot of time talking.
*scratches his head* uuh what else? *shrugs* I'd rather be building this Zaku II 1/100 MG. I went through the parts and manual last night.
I'm looking forward to it
My most difficult decisions with it will be
Command type or not?
I seem to always build command types, so the real question is:
stabilizer or classic command spire
Howitzer or bazooka?
... both!
Machine gun and heat hawk holstered
and I'll be spending some portion of this weekend talking MTG decks with my bro, and ordering a Gouf and possibly an airbrush kit.
I have a 1/144 and the gouf custom 1/100 MG
They rock.
... but there IS a 1/60 Gouf. It has a market price of $200. And its out of stock because its like 5-10 years old, so collector price is probably 350.
Kind of out of reason.
I'll probably just grab some HG 1/100's and paint em.
I wanted to try some texture and camo techniques on some throwaways...
simple stuff like putting up a mesh stencil and spraying through it, or covering the base coat with stick-paper and removing it after applying a darker coat on the exposed parts.
And I'll be thinking about hand shopping some custom parts.
I need to find out how the hell that's done though.
I don't know the materials they use, or how they sculpt and sand em. I hear some guys use blocks of paper and sand-sculpt the parts out of it. I -guess- the paint job comes out about the same as when its applied to the plastic... we'll see.
It kinda came out of this custom gelgoog I saw... guy took a basic 1/100 shopped a few extra panels for bevelled armor and floating (anchored, but not directly layed over the base armor) reactive armor plates. He then custom shopped a machine gun with a grenade launcher and added verniers on the shoulder after cutting the shoulder spikes out.
... oh and then he added very precise indentions contours and divets that looked very mechanically
as opposed to the very smooth and unbored surface of the gelgoog.
Can't agree with the weapon payload and knuckle shield on a gelgoog... but...
god damn it looked good.
Also
totally wanna order some orphaned weapons. (sheets of weapons with no model)
I know they sell em in kits in the 1/100 range or specifically for a set, along with some more articulated hands and heads
but... they're very
VERY hard to find in US.
But they're cheap
and awesome.
What else do I have for you?
Not much, I mostly posted to pass some time while I wait on lunch.
Oh
thinking about a geometric design henna tattoo on my right arm
gonna talk to work about it
and research how long it'll last
and then call shops around town.
