To truly connect with the power, involvement with technology is, out of necessity, to be limited.

As humans evolved and grew more civilized and began to utilize technology in more ways, the human ability to channel the power for magic has been lost, or greatly interfered with.
With each passing century, things vanished from our world, moving to just beyond the veil. Rarely do these beings and creatures cross back.
Sadly, many of these mystical things have become jokes.
