Explorer Search And Rescue, crew 393. its a youth oriented Search And Rescue crew. most crews are adults. our crew is 15 yrs old, and is the only ground SAR crew in Arkansas up to the national standard. other SAR Dogs teams are but we are a little differnt. There are several teams that hate us because we are young and better trained. they constantly call us "kids", nothing pisses us off more than that. however there is a dog team that is one of the best in AR that will almost refuse a search if we arent there. They respect us, and we respect everyone else. Our team has the most SARTECH 1s-the highest level of SAR training. Being one-if not the-best team in AR, we are constantly being called out. which is always good.
i absoultely love what i do in ESAR. Most of the seaches we go on end well. However, due to the very nature of it, some dont. Those that dont make the good ones that much better. i will admit it can be hard on one both physically and mentally. The mental is hard to overcome, but its worth it, ever cut from thorns, every blister, all of it, i wouldnt give it up for all the money in the world.
