Im going on my 3rd week of class now. I am the ONLY white person there with the exception of the instructor. One woman has been in the same mod for 3months and hasnt passed yet. Well today we took another test, I passed but I was looking at the break down of our grades and something threw me off. Our grade is broken up into 3parts. 40% class participation (homework, attendence, interaction in class) 30% test score, and the last 30% is lab work.
Well, normally Im not this anal about things, but Im looking over my grade and see 31% for class participation, and it made me wonder. I do the homework (its stupid not to, Im paying for the class) I answer questions asked in class, I help the others in the class out with notes and whatnot when they're stuck and Ive yet to be late or miss a day. And 23% for lab work. Again I understand what Im doing, the instructor almost ALWAYS sends a student my way to watch what Im doing if they dont understand and the instructor is busy with another student. My tests score popped up fine. So I asked what was going on. And I think Im a lil pissed by the answer. It was pointed out that two of the students are playing the race card. They are claiming the instructor is showing favortism towards me, so she lowered my grade and deducted points so if the dean asks to see her records it doesnt look like she actually IS showing any favortism.
She told me my grade will be the same, just a lower grade. If Im getting a "B" for the week, it'll just be a low "B" but a "B" none the less. I kinda understand she's covering her ass, but at the same point, its not favortism if Im actually DOING everything properly and studying and whatnot. I KNOW its not fair, but like I said I KINDA understand... is this something I should put up with? Its not my fault the other two are idiots, why should I be punished because they're not pushing themselves hard enough?
