New to this whole blogging thing just never had much to write about. Course still don't but figure might as well put something up. Went out hunting tonight here in SC climbed up the tree about 1630 sat for a couple hours nothing but squirrels and birds to keep me company it was great weather was warm but not miserable. Then about 1830 just as Colors was playing i saw him moving through the woods to my right cutting across in front of me but to far away to take a shot and to many trees in the way. watching him walk along i had my bow at the ready just in case he turned back in front of me and gave me a shot. Then he came to the path i was sitting on and all that between us was the branch i was sitting on. slowly he stepped out from behind the branch and i drew slowly pulling the string back until i felt it on my cheek. looking through the peep sight and lining up my pins he had turned to face me giving me no shot again. Holding the bow at full draw i waited for him to turn and finally after several tense moments he turned broadside to me and i released, the shot was good he dropped where he stood but the arrow had not pierced all the way into his vitals it had hit bone and paralyzed his rear half... drawing another arrow and knocking it i drew and aimed in again looking for a quick kill shot to finish him off. You would think he would be making noise but all he was dong was turning in circles on the ground. aiming in i waited for him to stop turning and released, just as my finger it the release he moved again the arrow sank deep into his side piercing one lung but still he continued trying to rise and run into the woods... I drew one more arrow and knocked it.. aimed in and waited for him to stop he finally did and this time i released before he could move again a solid hit and he lay still... Adrenaline pumping i sat and looked down at him watching ensuring he was dead... Then carefully trying not to jump the 15 feet to the ground i climbed down the tree and walked up to him a beautiful, 5X4, 9 Point roughly 175-200 lbs and solid. What a night I will post pics of the horns once they are mounted... true story i feel sorry that the first shot didn't finish him off but i stayed with it and ensured he suffered as little as possible the shots all took less then 5 minutes for all three so please no comments about my being cruel i hunt for the pleasure of it and for the meat i will consume him and he will nourish me, my family, and friends.
