[10-08] Klayton Was Here... (New Album Drops Next Week, Pendulum Rocks, Blue Stahli/Squarehead) New Album Drops Next Week, Pendulum Rocks, Blue Stahli/Squarehead and The Winner is… YOU'VE GOTTA BE KIDDING… That's what I was thinking when I considered writing the words "New album drops next week…" Well as it turns out, I'm totally not kidding and I've slapped myself in the face three times in the last minute just to be SURE I wasn't dreaming this whole thing up. Now that the right side of my face is twice the side of my left side, I'm convinced I'm actually awake. This is NOT the follow up to the debut Celldweller disc (which I am still working fervently on,) but IS an album of all new material (barring some of the bonus stuff which has never previously been available on CD.) There are already some tracks posted in the Myspace player, but they sound kinda like poop, so better quality versions are on their way to you next week and will be available to you for purchase in the brand spanking new FiXT Store AND/OR for free in conjunction with our partner, TrueAnthem. True to form, I am still working on some of the songs and I'm sure will continue to do that until someone slaps my hand and takes it away from me at the last minute. So while I'm working, I figured I'd give you another poopy myspace copy of a brand new track to hold you over for the few days remaining until it's release. Go check out "Outland" in the player. I made up a fake Pro Tools session and took a pic to make it look like I actually wrote & recorded this song: [10-08] Klayton Was Here... I made up a fake Pro Tools session and took a pic to make it look like I actually wrote & recorded this song: OutlandMixing.jpg I probably shouldn't do this, but I'm so excited to have this guy on board to do the artwork for the CD, that I'm going to post an unfinished version of the cover he's working on for SVH Vol 01 right here, and right now. Sam from Dose Productions (who also has skinned the new FiXT Store and is now working on skinning another site for me that I'll tell you about later on…) has put together some great imagery and I just have to leak it to you and hope I don't get slapped for it (the right side of my face is still swollen.) CelldwellerSVH.jpg You need to go check out some of Sam's Digital Art Packs for sale at the FiXT Store. You get all kinds of versions including High Res (300 DPI) in a single Pack, so you can use them for almost any application, from cell phone wallpaper to a Poster. I'll tell you what I'm doing with mine: printing them and putting them on my walls, dammit! AND THE WINNER IS… The Last Firstborn, and you're totally responsible for it. A few blogs ago I asked you guys to go pick 1 out of 6 songs I have available for remix from the Celldweller Debut album. Voting has ended and it's kind of a no brainer as to what track you guys want to dissect next or hear someone else dissect next. This remix competition will be a continuation of the "FiXT Remix" Pre-launch concept. I really hoped to have the new and considerably improved remix community site ready to unveil to you all by this point, but this stuff never moves as quickly as I'd like b/c there is a lot more involved than my tiny brain can comprehend (Including my boy Sam working on skinning the site. See? Told ya I'd tell you about that other site he's skinning later on.) So I figured "I have 6 songs worth of stems sitting in folders, let's let everyone choose what they want." Well you have chosen, but I'm thinking that's just not good enough. Every song got SOME votes so that means a large chunk wanted The Last Firstborn, but others maybe wanted Under My Feet or Afraid This Time etc. So…….. this is what I'm thinking: I'm going to give them ALL to you and this is how I'm going to do it: We're going to post a new remix pack every 2 weeks on the same day and time of the week so you can go to town for the next few months with a stream of "new" remix material. Don't hyperventilate, you won't have to have a final mix in that 2 weeks, but you'll have new packs pretty frequently to inspire a totally different mix while you're resting from writer's block on the previous remix. And for those who aren't remixing but helping in the voting and commenting, you'll have a pretty big chunk of remixes to keep you inspired. There will be more definitive details on the contest coming up, but there's the quick overview. Oh, I was reminded to mention that the "Switchback" remixes are finally up for sale at the FiXT Store (3 CD's worth of tracks.) You can also grab a bunch of them for free here too. PENDULUM ROCKS… PendulumGuyAndKlayton.jpg I got to check out Pendulum's live show on their US tour recently and they kicked a serious amount of ass. Some of you know that a few months ago they asked me to remix their "Propane Nightmares" single and I sure did. It's available on iTunes, I'm pretty sure. I somehow convinced Rob and Gareth to be in a photo with me, so I could tell everyone that I know them and bump up my 'cool points.' These guys are badass onstage and off, so check them out if you haven't already (dammit!) KlaytonandPendulumGuy.jpg A FEW MORE THINGS I'VE BEEN UP TO LATELY…. Blue Stahli and Squarehead. Many of you are familiar with Bret Stahli, I mean Blue Stahli. Bret has already finished up "Scrape," his second track towards his debut CD , but is waiting on me to finish up SVH Vol 01 so I can mix it and get it to you's guys (just had a New York moment.) Well, Bret (ironically) is as unfocused as me and wants to do everything at once too, so in between writing his debut CD, he squeezed out his own version of Film/TV/Videogame music entitled "Antisleep Vol. 01." I produced these tracks and mixed a bunch too, so that's kept me busy in my spare time. The real reason I'm telling you this is because this 18 track album was just made available, for sale at FiXTstore.com AND/OR for free (with his first ever song, "Kill Me Every Time") in the widget below. Grab it up and go hit his Myspace page and tell him you love him and maybe even want to have his babies. Guys, you might want to hold off on that last one – I don't think surgeries or pills have advanced to that point yet. Squarehead_StopDropRollfeatXina2.jpg You may have heard Jimmy Rhodes or myself mention the signing of "Squarehead" to FiXT. Well now you can finally hear it. Squarehead is Sebastian Komor (Icon of Coil, Zombie Girl, Melt) and he played us some badass tracks we knew we had to have. I was instantly inspired by some of the instrumental tracks he had and suggested we collaborate on a few of them and turn them into new versions of those songs. Enter "Stop, Drop & Roll" featuring the lovely XINA (pronounced X-eena" not "Zeena" or X-eye-na" – dammit!) The track is already live on the Squarehead Myspace page and is available at FiXTstore.com too. Hang on because there is lots more Squarehead on the way. I feel like I've been Klogging for days here, so I need to end this and crash before I wake up tomorrow morning facedown in a pile of drool (hopefully it would be my own drool if that were to happen.) Dammit! [Klayton]
