Five miles away



A woman stands
Alone on a mountain top
Five miles away

Alone
Except for the voice
That speaks in her head
It whispers

“you knew there would be sacrifice”
“you knew there would be pain”

“yes”
She her thoughts moan back
“but I didn’t know how much”
“until now”

Five miles away
Alone on a mountain top
Stands a woman
With a loneliness
So profound
It makes me want to weep

Weep with me
And together
We will face the heart
Of your despair
And try to set you free

Mirrors


Which is the real one
In the hall of mirrors
That is my mind

Multiple images
Fractured and reflected
Moving past the mirrors
I find a core of fear
So bright its blinding

A childhood spent in solitude
Only shadows of myself
For company
Never have I let someone touch
This place inside of me
Never have I looked
Past the mirrors
To see my real self

So small
So frightened
So very alone

I’ve learned to
Embrace the aloneness
Using it to make me stronger

But for me
Is it to late                                                                                                     Which is the real one
